Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) and the University of Canberra (UC): Strengthening Cooperation in Training and Scientific Research
On July 30, 2015, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Kim Sơn welcomed and had a working session with the University of Canberra (Australia) delegation led by UC Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Global) Prof. Simon Ridings.

During the working session, the two sides discussed cooperation possibilities including staff and student exchange, the launching of joint training and research programs on education, governance, environment, and organization of joint workshops.

 


 

On October 14, 2013, VNU and UC signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). With a view to establishing a focused and effective cooperative relationship, VNU Vice President Nguyễn Kim Sơn said that VNU and UC would soon select and promote such programs as Doctoral Program 2+2 in Corporate Governance, joint environmental studies; and organize joint workshops to provide opportunities for the two sides’ affiliates to discuss cooperation possibilities in training, scientific research, faculty and students exchange.
Expressing his thanks for the warm welcome and the proposals by VNU Vice President Nguyễn Kim Sơn, Prof. Simon Ridings approved and highly appreciated the above-named cooperation schemes. He believed that with the attention and support from the two universities’ authorities, the cooperative activities would soon be launched to promote the mutual development of both universities. Prof. Ridings and his companions also proposed some other cooperative aspects such as Administration, Public Administration, Communication, Health etc.
From 1994 up to now, VNU has had  partnerships with many Australian prestigious universities such as the University of Adelaide, the University of New South Wales, Melbourne University, Monash University, the University of Queensland. There has been a diversity in the form of cooperation, from faculty, staff and student exchange programs to cooperative scientific research and technology transfer, international joint undergraduate and postgraduate training programs, organization of international scientific workshops, etc.
The University of Canberra was founded in 1968 and is located in Canberra, Australia’s capital. Ranked in the top universities in Australia and among Top 601-650 of the world’s leading universities (according to the QS World University Rankings), UC does not only offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses but also participates in applied research to assist the Australian government, businesses and vocational orientation at the regional, national and international levels.
