VNU-FU: Renovating cooperation for development
On June 28, 2013, Prof.Dr. Nguyễn Hữu Đức – VNU Vice President had a meeting with Prof. Michael Barber – Vice-Chancellor and President of Flinders University, Australia.

The meeting aims to summarize cooperation results from 2007 to 2012 between the two universities and discuss the renewal of the MoU on nano technology, environment, water resources and educational sciences.
Founded in 1966, Flinders Universityis a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Flinders is ranked within the top 10-16 universities in Australia, within the top 400 of universities worldwide by Academic Ranking of World Universities 2012 and 36th in QS Top 50 universities under 50 year olds. The University’s faculties of medicine and the humanities are ranked among the nation's top 10.
VNU Vice President Nguyễn Hữu Đức emphasized that in order to become a research-oriented university, VNU expects to strengthen the cooperation with FU in PhD training since it is considered as an important factor to promote scientific research development. He also hoped that VNU will receive the support and consultancy from FU for its training and research activities. VNU Vice President suggested a number of specific cooperation activities in the coming time, for instance FU providing consultancy in choosing more optimal research directions; FU’s scientists visiting and doing joint research at VNU; establishing joint research groups; discussing the cooperation in educational sciences and nanotechnology.
Prof. Michael Barber believed that the two universities could enhance the efficiency of cooperation in some fields like nanotechnology, water energy, natural science, social science, medicine, etc. FU will discuss and make suggestions in order to find out the most effective cooperation direction for both sides.
